Diamond D Angus Annual Sales Report
The twenty-third annual Diamond D Angus Sale was held on November 10th, 2011 at the ranch at Valier, Montana on a nice winter’s day. A large group of buyers, phone bidders and spectators from across the country and Canada participated and contributed to the success of the sale. An excellent set of forage developed bulls were very well accepted by the buyers. The animals at Diamond D Angus are moderate framed and easy keepers. This was the first experience with a video auction here at the ranch and will be used in the future with improvements to come.
The top selling bull of the day went to the A7 Ranch of Alberta, Canada. He was DDA Freemen 160K, a son of the popular DDA Emblazon 27C bull at Diamond D Angus and his mother DDA Sandy 404, a great cow at the age of 17 years; this bull went for $9,250. For $6500-the next top selling bull was DDA Medicine Man IK a son of DDA Favour 103D to Ed Donley of KS for $6500. Another bull at $6,500 was E26K a son of OCC Emblazon 854E selling to Ole Farms of Alberta, Canada. The A7 Ranch will also take home DDA Medicine Man 60K sired by DDA Favour 103D for $6250. He's a bull with a lot of muscle and depth of body. Next in line was DDA Just Right 19K sired by DDA Lodge E5H purchased by the Russ Ranch of ND for $6000. Grabofsky Livestock and Grain purchased DDA Medicine Man 31K a son of DDA Favour 103D for $5750. and DDA Pondera 10K a son of Hyland BC 0668 for $5250. This bull has a great linage with Lodge, Favour and Fahren in his pedigree. Chapman Cattle Co of Alberta, Canada purchased DDA Sure Enough 154K for $5000. He is the son of DDA Emblazon 28A and a 3/4 brother of Emblazon 27C and E4I.
JSK Livestock of NY purchased, cow DDA Melisa 379, a daughter of the great Banjo of Wye UMF 6413 bull, at the price of $3000.
Bill Lansing of IA, bought Heifer DDA Melisa 094 sired by DDA Dazeler 2E for the price of $2750 and Jason Rinas of Saskatchewan, Canada purchased heifer DDA Gretta 051 sired by DDA Favour for the price of $2600.
The volume bull buyer of the 2011 sale was A7 Ranch of Alberta, Canada and the volume buyer of the females was Rinas Stock Farms of Saskatchewan, Canada.
